First shift at the Missourian: Falconry

[EXHALE]

A few hours ago I completed my first shift at the Columbia Missourian as a staff photographer. Some of you may recall that I was a sports reporter for the same publication last semester. I have finally moved on to greener pastures and am doing what I love. I was a bit nervous for my first day today. I didn’t have any assignments yet, so I was sent out to feature hunt. Luckily, an editor in the newsroom heard about a local falconer flying his falcons nearby, so I got to spend my afternoon with a cool dude and two Aplomado falcons. Here are my favorite photos that made the Missourian’s online gallery.

  1. Great photos. Love the first!!

Ps. We’d love to feature that photo and some of your other work in our online gallery if you are a match (it’s mental health related). Please let me know.

I would love to let you share my work, but I’m not sure that I fit your gallery’s criteria. I don’t have any (known) mental health issues. Thanks for looking at my photos though!

  2. That is so awesome. I’m in love with the idea of falconry, seems hard to break in to though. ;) Very, very cool.
